Youth Innovation in Agriculture and Tech Takes Root
New programs encourage the next generation to lead in sustainability and digital innovation
Pine Ridge —
Wakaga has launched a youth-focused initiative to train the next generation of leaders in sustainable agriculture and digital technology. The program integrates hands-on learning in geothermal greenhouses with basic skills in coding, IT infrastructure, and media.
This hybrid approach is designed to give young tribal members tools they can use in both local and global careers, while staying rooted in community values. Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and enrollment continues to grow.
Future plans include mentorships, intergenerational skill-sharing, and scholarships for students interested in agriculture, green tech, and IT fields.
