WEDG is a wholly owned entity of the Wakpamni Lake Community (WLC) government, a municipal tribal government of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. Established through tribal resolution WLC-2025-01, WEDG was formally signed into existence by President Sandy Two Lance to serve as the economic development arm of the community.
